NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC - explorers symposium tees
Every year National Geographic puts on an Annual Explorers Symposium. The event is NatGeo's equivalent of TedTalk. James Cameron, Jane Goodall and other major influencers in the explorers arena present new findings and give comprehensive lectures. It's meant to cultivate exploration, aid global initiatives, develop cutting-edge technology and foster new innovative minds.
National Geographic needed a T-shirt and expression represented at this massive event. There are four major lenses addressed at the event and year round; Human Element, Critical Species, Our Living Planet, and New Frontiers.
I created four shirts to express these lenses and a unifying visual language to tie them all together. I folded and twisted paper and painted elements to go over National Geographic's classic images. This Explorers Symposium always emphasizes the 'Explorer' element, so it was natural to include a man-made expression in each.
The NatGeo yellow was used to tie these together. National Geographic rarely steps into the apparel world so this was an opportunity to showcase their iconic border and color on collateral for the event.
